30 Days: Physics Grad School vs. the Students

YAY!!!!

I'M DONE TEACHING FOR THE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!! From now until the 17th is all about studying. Yesterday we rocked Classical Mechanics. It is definitely the easiest but not because it is easy but because all the problems are so physical, so mechanical that you can almost touch them (literally speaking). This topic gives me hope that I will do at least a good job in 3 parts of the test. I have to go study now.

hot popcorn!

today was especially hilarious at work. you can read about it (and see pictures) on my other blog: http://astrogirl720.blogspot.com

angel and I did a bunch of classical mechanics problems today. we rocked the first two and then did half of the third one. that much work would definitely more than pass us on the test, so we both felt pretty good about it. this section should be the easiest of the four, so at least I know I will do well on it.

two weeks to go!

Yes I'm alive

I know I haven't posted anything in a while but hey I've doing a lot of things. Studying is sort of ok. We've been slacking off lately. The news that Hwi gave us are great. It made me feel a lot better. I finish teaching the PHY 114 lab on Wednesday. After that we will dedicate our entire lives (yeah sure) to studying. In the mean while studying time means going to the mall and buying stuff at Gap or Banana Republic. We are also planning the "after-the-comps-and-my-birthday-party". We don't know what is going to happen. All we know is that after the test there is going to be lots and lots of alcohol and maybe naked people (lol). Probably only alcohol :'- ( I'll post some more pictures of our adventures later this week. Have fun!!!!!!!!!

PS
It is August 2nd already! 20 days until my 22nd birthday. I'll be 22 on the 22nd. Isn't that fun. Wow I'm a dork.

sunday at school

yes, it's sunday afternoon (barely) and I am at school, sitting in my office. I'm waiting for my advisor to make some edits to my poster for the conference I'm going to in a week. it needs to be at the printers tomorrow so it will be ready in time, so here I am on a sunday, at school, making sure that happens.
I haven't done much studying this weekend so far, and I blame that mostly on angel. he he. ok, not really his fault, but I will blame him anyway because it's more fun that way. basically, this post is because I am bored. I should be studying or something, but I'm not because I need to post. so here is the post.
yesterday was fun. we went tubing on the salt river with some of the other grad students. it was sunny most of the time (except when we decided to stop for lunch - then it rained). most of us got a little bit sunburned, but nothing too bad I think (I hope Keely's isn't too bad). mine doesn't hurt but it is bright red. basically, everywhere where I put sunscreen, I have a nice tan, but the places I missed are a bit burned (of course). anyway, it was fun. we should do it again sometime.

oh! on friday, we ran into Hwi, one of the other grad students, and she gave us some good news. so Angel and I feel a bit better about the test now, but we really don't know how accurate the information is, but it seems like it can be trusted. a bit of a relief.
